Health Vision FAQ

What is Health Vision?

It is a management information tool which aims to provide companies with an overview of the general health and wellbeing of their workforce. Combining the benefits of our existing online tool, Personal Health Manager, with the growing need for employers to be aware of their employees’ wellbeing, this development is an innovative new management information service.

Health Vision will assist in identifying existing as well as future health risks facing a company, and will enable it to take proactive steps to help further manage its sickness and absence strategy.

The information is gathered through employees completing the Health Planner via our online tool, Personal Health Manager, which provides them with a personalised overview of their health together with recommendations for improvement.

A Norwich Union Healthcare Clinician analyses the results of the information and produces a report detailing key recommendations. Management information will also be generated from the results to help the company identify key health trends and risks within its overall workforce.

Why has Norwich Union introduced Health Vision?

It is a building block towards Norwich Union Healthcare strategy, both short and long term to enable us to provide a more integrated offering as it allows us to gather information and make more appropriate recommendations better tailored to each corporate customer.

It enables our corporate customers to better understand and manage the health and wellbeing of their workforce, allowing them to take a more proactive approach to preventing health risks occurring within their workforce, and ultimately the effect this has on their bottom line.

Because Health Vision works from data collected in Personal Health Manager, it also adds value to the individual employee, not just the employer, by allowing them to take better control of their own health and wellbeing.

Who developed Health Vision?

Expert-24 Limited which wrote the Symptom Assessments and Health Planner functions within Personal Health Manager also wrote the Health Vision functions. The presentation tool in which the results are presented was written by one of our IT service providers Amadeus. Significant user acceptance training was undertaken to ensure that the information displayed is clinically correct and unchanged from the information provided by Expert-24, reflecting a true representation of the results.

All material is subject to review at least annually. The Health Vision results are independent and unbiased. Only qualified clinical consultants/physicians are permitted to analyse the results and put forward clinical content relating to the interpretation and recommendations of these results.

Is the information we give safe?

We employ the following measures to protect the security of your information:

  • We require the use of usernames and passwords in respect of each employee (and their family members) using Personal Health Manager in their own right.
  • We use firewalls to protect information held on our servers, which would include the Health Vision report.
  • We also encrypt the personal information we send and receive from you, by means of a 128-bit Secure Socket Layer encryption.

Norwich Union Healthcare Limited, Norwich Union Insurance Limited and Norwich Union Life & Pensions Limited are the data controllers of your personal information under the Data Protection Act 1998.

We will use your personal information for the purposes of registration, service provision, record retention and investigation of any complaints. We promise that we will not use your information to inform an underwriting, claims liability or other insurance decision. Equally, we promise that we will never use the personal information gathered through Personal Health Manager for marketing purposes.

To maintain the confidentiality, employees’ individual health will always remain private and anonymous.

Will Norwich Union use our personal data for insurance purposes?

No.

We promise never to use your personal data to inform any insurance decision. We hold personal data for the limited purposes of user registration, service provision, record retention and investigation of any complaints.

Why isn't Health Vision available to our International customers?

We have created Health Vision and Personal Health Manager to be compliant with English law. For this reason, Health Vision and Personal Health Manager are available to those who are resident in and using the service from the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man.

Does Health Vision affect my private healthcare premium?

The costs of delivering Personal Health Manager, which Health Vision is linked to, are spread over a large number of people. This has enabled us to ensure impact on premiums is negligible.

However, in the future we hope that greater health consciousness among our customers may even reduce our claims costs and help us minimise future premium increases.

If you wish to cover more employees who aren’t covered by the company Private Medical Insurance or Group Income Protection schemes, Personal Health Manager can be purchased on a standalone basis for an additional fee per employee.
